Rex E. Lee was a former President of BYU who passed away from cancer, and the official Rex E. Lee 5k and 10k races were instituted in his honor. I ran the 10k route, which started next to the outdoor track, climbed a strong hill taking me up to the temple, ran down to center, and finished the circuit back to the outdoor track.
I ran for both grandfathers, Keith Ottesen and Wayne Van De Graaff, who are currently diagnosed with prostate cancer. To be honest, it was so cold, and I was concentrating so much that I nearly forgot I was running for someone :).
I finished with a time of 44:37, putting me in seventh place overall, and third place in my age bracket (for women). It averages out to around a 7.07 min/mile... and I got a medal!
**I finally broke down and bought a pink IM watch- loving it**
more pictures to come!
